Many women put off a gynecology visit for months. Sometimes it is embarrassment, sometimes it is not knowing whether the problem is serious enough, and often it is not being sure they will be listened to. If you are not sure whether to come, that is itself a good reason to come.
This is the general consultation to start with if you do not yet know what your problem is called. You describe what is happening, you are examined, and you are told what it looks like and what would confirm it.
A visit is a conversation, an examination if needed, and often a sonography in the same building. You should leave knowing what the likely explanation is, what the next step is, and whether it is urgent.
Heavier, more painful, irregular, stopped, or bleeding between periods. Any of these is worth a visit.
Lower abdominal or pelvic pain, unusual discharge or smell, itching, or a lump you can feel.
Including a sonography or blood test done elsewhere that you want explained properly.
Choosing a method, changing one, or a pre-pregnancy check before trying.
Any one of these is reason enough to book. You do not need all of them.
Your symptoms, when they started, your cycle, past pregnancies and surgeries, medicines, and family history. Nothing is examined before you have been asked.
An abdominal examination and, where needed, an internal examination. It is explained before it happens, a female attendant is present, and you can decline or stop at any point.
A pelvic sonography in the same building, blood tests where relevant, and a cervical screening test where indicated.
What the likely explanation is, what the treatment options are, what happens if you do nothing for now, and when to come back.
You will be seen by one of the hospital's gynecologists. A female doctor is available if you ask for one when you book.

Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Emergency care is available 24 hours, all seven days. Please confirm the current timing when you book, in case it has changed.
Walk-ins are seen during OPD hours. Booking ahead means less waiting and, if you have asked for a female doctor or need a sonography in the same visit, it means that can be arranged before you arrive.
Not always. It depends on your symptoms, and for some problems a sonography gives the information instead. If one is needed it will be explained first, a female attendant will be present, and you can say no or ask to stop at any point.
